Night Travel is the personal story of escape for Sahand, who is Iranian-Dutch. He was only five years old when his mother woke him up and told him they had to flee Iran. They left through mountain paths. This story, reworked for a younger audience, gives children an insight into what it means to leave your country and start all over. He tells how his memories are shaped by his perceptions and weaves them into the folk tales his father told him with humour and effect. As we link our memories to reality it is significant, as Sahand says, that “sometimes stories end up making history, be it intentionally or not.”
Sahand’s story can be accompanied by a live musician on various instruments. To be booked additionally.
